Initiative that wants to rethink the future of the fashion sector from the point of view of sustainability.
The Sustainable Challenge is an annual project committed to generating knowledge and proposals to favour sustainability in the fashion industry.
In the 6th edition, under the title “Carnival of insurrectionist couture, a decolonial practice”, and in the context of a marathon of creation, 30 fashion students from schools in Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands will accept the challenge of designing clothes using the methodology of participatory design, with the aim of understanding other perspectives beyond your own, with the support of experts and mentors in the sector.
The event will take place in person at Disseny Hub Barcelona from November 14 to 16, 2024. The call to participate will be launched on September 17 and will be open until October 7.
This edition is curated by Roberte Piqueras, Lucía Piedra Galarraga and Frank Trobok. The students will also have the support of industry experts and mentors who will work hand in hand with the them, guiding them throughout the creation process: Sofia Archer, Karim Adduchi, Lizette Nin and Roshni Kavate.
The Sustainable Challenge is organized by MODA-FAD, thanks to the promotion of Barcelona City Council and the Design Hub Barcelona, the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the collaboration of the Embassy of the Netherlands.
